ACTIVITIES
Activities are as varied as the seascapes that surround us. Picnic on a lonely sandbank, dive in the Kisite Marine Park, fish the Indian Ocean, beach comb or just relax by our stunning fresh water swimming pool.
There are no routines, no programmes. Time is your own.
Al-fresco breakfasts from dawn to midday, buffet lunches and delicious dinners.
Sea related facilities
from the Pemba Channel Lodge include diving, snorkeling in the Kisite Marine
Park, dolphin spotting, deep sea fishing, trips to secluded beaches and sundowner
cruises. The Lodge has a range of water-based activities and the close proximity
to Kisite Marine Park means that day trips for excellent scuba diving and dolphin
sightings are easy. The marlin rich waters of the Pemba Channel are only a boat
ride away. A major drawcard for the keen fisherman is the deep-sea fishing facility
offered by the Lodge. Started as a Club in 1964 for big-game fishermen, the
tradition continues.

Deep
Sea Big-Game Fishing
Following
the tradition if Ernest Hemingway, sportfishermen come from all over the world
for the superb fishing.
The Pemba Channel is synonymous with the finest Striped Marlin fishing in Kenya.
Sailfish, wahoo, barracuda,
falusi (mahi-mahi) and yellowfin tuna are just some of the other fish we catch
on a regular basis. Try your hand at fishing
with expert guides and crews who have in excess of 150 years' experience between
them. Peter Ruysenaars has been
fishing the channel since 1972 and will share his enthusiasm and knowledge with
you. Two 33 ft Bertrams operate out
of the Lodge.

Snorkeling and
Diving on the reefs around Kisite Marine Park
Scuba
Diving, shore based
Superb
at any time of the year. Excellent 5* dive sites.
Warm, translucent tropical waters enriched with nutrients brought by currents
flowing from the Indian Ocean support an
astonishing variety of marine life around the Kisite Marine Park and its environs.
What's underwater? Everything from table
corals to reef sharks, frog fish to sea horses. Dolphins and hump-backed whales
are often seen. Whales are seen on their
migratory routes south.
Snorkel
or cruise the beautiful Kisite Marine Park with its shallow coral reefs, teeming
with colour and movement or just
chill our on a small uninhabited desert island.
PADI Diving Courses
Open Water and Advanced
Courses are available from our experienced and amiable instructors. There is
no better place
to learn to dive.
Scuba Diving, live-aboard M Y Kisiwani
Weekly trips start
each Monday to Pemba Island, the Spice Island of the Zanzibar Archipelago. Wall
diving is the speciality
here and the coral supports an abundance of reef and coral fish. At present
the number of divers is small enough to ensure
uncrowded dive sites. The crew of M Y Kisiwani have been diving around Pemba
Island for the past 11 years and she still
has not yielded all her secrets! Excellent value, superb cuisine, first class
hospitality and fantastic diving. Plunge into Paradise!

Dolphin Safaris
Dolphin Spotting
at breakfast from the terrace, otherwise, take a cruise on a traditional swahili
dhow through the channel
to the open ocean to see pods of dolphins. It is not uncommon to see large numbers
of dolphins at play and
showing off. A jaw dropping sight. Swimming with some species in the wild is
possible. Dolphins just want to have fun!

Sailing aboard
a traditional Swahili Dhow
Sail in a traditional swahili dhow and snorkel or cruise the beautiful Kisite
Marine Park with its shallow coral reefs, teeming
with colour and movement or just chill out on a small uninhabited desert island.

Golf
Golf at Diani's Leisure
Lodge Course. This is an 18 hole championship, par 72 course, with fully irrigated
fairways running
through coconut palm plantations and small tracts of indigenous forest. There
is an abundance of bird life around the
man-made lake and crocodiles wait to catch any poor shots up the 18th!
Golf at Nyali Golf
and Country Club. This is an 18 hole course to the north of Mombasa Island.
Long fairways and
true greens. A great day out.
Golf at Mombasa Golf
Club. This little 9 hole golf course is a very challenging links course, right
on the sea front it
has stunning views of the Mombasa harbour entrance.
Safari
Safaris can be arranged
to the Shimba Hills, Tsavo National Park and Amboseli, the Masai Mara or our
favourite, Samburu
Game Reserve. We can recommend where to stay and when to go. We can recommend
some stunning lodges and camps.
